This one is Rise Up by Yves Larock (I wouldnt mind being able to do those great skipping rope acts.. they are awesome!! :p):
Sun is Shining by Bob Marley, remix of Funkstar Deluxe:
And of course, Bob Sinclair’s Love Generation:
Today is blog action day… Unfortunately was busy this morning and couldnt blog abt it…
So yeah, some days earlier i registered with blogactionday.org to post an article concerning the frailty of our environment on 15 October 2007.
To tell you the truth, imho, the situation is clearly alarming… Just recently i watched on the news how the Arctic Polar Ice has melted an additional 30% this summer, 30% more than the last… and this is the latest record. To view the video, visit Yash’s blog.
Ppl, our planet is suffering… in fact it has been suffering since long… but nw we are feeling the repercussions: wild hurricanes, super strong and more frequent cyclones, droughts in places where previously we had floods and vice versa… The planet is retaliating… and it’s great time we woke up and had a gud look around.
But my say is that… writing and reading about it do sensitize ppl… but we have to ACT if we want to save the world, if we want that our children tomorrow can live wat we have… the gifts that nature has given us.
And we can do so through little gestures, gestures we can turn into habits such as:
- throwing bits of pieces of paper (and other rubbish) in waste baskets.
- walking to the nearby shop instead of taking out the car.
- do regular servicing of your car
- close the tap when we are not using it
- switch off lights wen we r not using them
Hey! the list could get longer but i’ve just realized something rite now… if we want to really save the world.. then we should forgo all the comforts we have amassed.
Mankind has progressed, at the expense of the environment: petrol from under the earth, wood to make paper, trees to make place for houses. No trees implied no habitat for animals, thus harming the food web. Ppetrol implied release of harmful chemical substances into the atmosphere.
Can the previous glory of our environment be returned?? That’s a gud question…
The answer to it, imho, is Yes. We are going to have to sacrifice lots but well we have already sacrificed the environment to help for our cause… the least we can do is return the favour!!
So ppl, ur time starts now! Fight against this injustice… provide for my kids… i want them to be able to sample the beauty of life…. provide for yours too…
Together we can make a better world, together we can save our environment, together we can make real progress… Let’s save the planet.. our planet
Therz a mail which has been going around. hre it is (mo p remarker mo p refer to lots of mails c temps si… mais bon…):
At age 8, your dad buys you an ice cream. You thanked him by dripping it all over your lap.
When you were 9 years old, he paid for piano lessons. You thanked him by never even bothering to practice.
When you were 10 years old he drove you all day, from soccer to football to one birthday party after another. You thanked him by jumping out of the car and never looking back.
When you were 11 years old, he took you and your friends to the movies. You thanked him by asking to sit in a different row.
When you were 12 years old, he warned you not to watch certain TV shows. You thanked him by waiting until he left the house.
When you were 13, he suggested a haircut that was becoming. You thanked him by telling him he had no taste.
When you were 14, he paid for a month away at summer camp. You thanked him by forgetting to write a single letter.
When you were 15, he came home from work, looking for a hug. You thanked him by having your bedroom door locked.
When you were 16, he taught you how to drive his car. You thanked him by taking it every chance you could.
When you were 17, he was expecting an important call. You thanked him by being on the phone all night.
When you were 18, he cried at your high school graduation. You thanked him by staying out partying until dawn.
When you were 19, he paid for your college tuition, drove you to campus carried your bags. You thanked him by saying good-bye outside the dorm so you wouldn’t be embarrassed in front of your friends.
When you were 25, he helped to pay for your wedding, and he told you how deep he loved you. You thanked him by moving halfway across the country.
When you were 50, he fell ill and needed you to take care of him . u thanked him by reading about the burden parents become to their children.
And then, one day, he quietly died. And everything you never did came crashing down like thunder on YOUR HEART. If you love your dad, send this to all of ur frnds If you don’t… then shame on u
Dads… We owe the world to our dads… ( n mothers no less bt this post is about Dads….) He is the one to first come running to your rescue when u fell, grazing ur hands and knees.
He is the one to buy you ur first mobile n ask you to show him how to use it before he buys his own.
He is the one to come ask if you’ll go out so he can plan an outing.
He is the one to buy you books, books you dont intend to read… but start it anyways and end up getting hooked to them.
He is the one to bail you out whenever you are in a ditch.
He is the one to start to teach you to drive (though he spends most of his time yelling at the top of his lungs in case you scratch his car..) and ends up sending you – away frm his precious car – for driving lessons.
Mine has always been there for me… wen i needed him the most and even wen i didnt. He always stood by me and my decisions.
This post is a tribute to my dad. I don’t have the necessary words to thank you enough. Just wanted to let u no that I love you and that am so so sooooo glad you happend to be MY dad.
N ya, i was browsing the other day and i finally came across a meaning for my name (It goes way beyond my expectations). hre it is:
The girl’s name Kevina \k(e)-vi-na\ is pronounced ke-VEEN-ah, KEV-i-nah. It is of Irish and Gaelic origin, and its meaning is “handsome beloved”. Feminine form of Kevin.
Not bad huh?
Gotta go now.. seems am wanted.
C u ppl.
ooohh.. my hands are itching…
Got this in a mail from a friend…
Very controversial but very true…
Note: Am nt hinting to anybody abt anything nor am i denigrating anybody
Engineer Boyfriends are the best:
1: Secure lifestyle
An engineer boyfriend can provide you with a secure lifestyle. At 27 years old, an engineer probably has a respectable, stable job that gives him high income to own a car, invest, have a comfortable life, and get married and buy a house too. Law graduates are still working as a lowly apprentice in law firm, most management graduates have just failed on their first business plan, the arts graduate is still looking for a job, and the medical school graduate is still living in a hospital.
2: Unmatchable industriousness
An engineer boyfriend will dedicate an unimaginable amount of his time and effort to understand you. Engineers strain really really hard to understand their work. You can believe that they will try really really hard to understand women too, just like how they understand their work, once they believe that you are the one. So even if they don’t understand you initially, they will keep on trying. Even if they still do not understand, they will figure out the correct method to keep you happy ( e.g. buy diamond ring = 1 week’s worth of happiness.) And once they find out the secret formula, they will just keep on repeating it so that the desired results appear. Unlike the Lawyer who will argue with you, the Management graduate who will try to control your spending, the Arts graduate who will ‘change major’, and the medical school graduate who will operate on you. And you know what, it’s really so easy to make engineers believe that you are the ‘one’.
Say that you like one of their projects and they will be hooked to you forever.
3: An engineer boyfriend will never betray your trust.
Let me first tell you what is wrong with the rest of the others – the lawyers will lie about everything, management graduates will cheat your money, the arts graduate will flirt, and you probably just look like another cadaver to the medical school graduate. Your engineer boyfriend is either too busy to have an affair, and even if he does, he is too dumb to lie to you about that.
Hence, an engineer is the most secure boyfriend that you will ever find – rich enough, will keep on trying to understand and please you, has no time for affairs, and too dumb to lie to you.
Conclusion: Engineerz rule !
Point 1 is true. Engineers are secure in this way.
Point 2: Am not too sure abt that bit concerning their ability to understand girls… bt well…
Point 3: I completely disagree with the fact tht he may be dumb koz if he wre, he wouldnt be an engineer in the first place… N well unfaithfulness in a relationship owes to many a reason..
Now let us find ur views on the above…
Note: Am nt hinting to anybody abt anything nor am i denigrating anybody. This is a joke.. so hve a laugh. Nothing mre, nothing less…
Our OR lecturer has recently been speaking highly of the Python programming language.
Python is a high-level programming language which has been designed in such a way as to completely emulate the wonders of C/C++ but without the bother of complex syntax and complicated pointers. Python is distributed under an OSI-approved open source licence that makes it free to use, even for commercial products.
Some of its key distinguishing features include (www.python.org):
- very clear, readable syntax
- strong introspection capabilities
- intuitive object orientation
- natural expression of procedural code
- full modularity, supporting hierarchical packages
- exception-based error handling
- very high level dynamic data types
- extensive standard libraries and third party modules for virtually every task
- extensions and modules easily written in C, C++ (or Java for Jython, or .NET languages for IronPython)
- embeddable within applications as a scripting interface
Python is friendly and easy to use. It is powerful and fast and can handle mostly any problem-domain. But right-now, python is being used on a grand-scale specially in the Games Industry (PC games, etc).
To python is attached Pygame, a set of modules designed to be used with python to develop video games. Pygame was written by Pete Shinners – a geek with good intentions – and he actually succeeded in facilitating the lives of game programmers. Pygame has gained so much popularity in so little time, based on the assumption that, most of the complex graphics functions inside a game, can be abstracted from the game logic itself. Thus programmer van concentrate on the game structure.
As mentioned earlier, python boasts of extremely simple syntax, and thus makes a great first programming language to learn programming with.
But as for us, yr-3 CS students who already know the basic rudiments of programming, learning only the if constructs, while loops, variables declarations, etc for us to be able to work out the simple logical OR labsheets we are given in class, is not really constructive work.
Learning python to create magic is a better pursuit than to learn the basics only. However, learning the basics of it will take only an hour… so if u find u have a free hour somewhere, then go get cracking!
Our lecturer will be so proud of u. And of himself too.
So ppl, let the snake in… N we’ll compare results on Wednesday next in the Lab.
