Some rambling thoughts…

Hiya guys n gurls…

Long time no hear… but pouf… could not find the time or did not have the heart… for some time there, I almost forgot I had a blog…

But, not to despair… here I am…

Well, since my last post and now, loads happened… new twists and turns… but it will take longer than one post to tell you ppl more about them…

I thought about blogging today koz Kervin and I are in relax mode… He is currently in the middle of a chess game (or a series of them… :s) , so i thought why nt a post??

Relax mode.. y?? Koz we have just come out of a test week during which we not only had to contend with common day-to-day stress but we also had to fight against a severe case of Torrential Rain. Incidentally, Wednesday 26 March will forever remain as a specter of bad luck for Mauritians not only because of heavy continuous rainfall which the Meteorological Station did not rightly forecast, but because the heavy torrential rain and subsequent floods brought about the death of four people, one of whom is a 14-year old girl.

Well, imho, these could have been avoided if the decision-makers (Government, Meteorological Station) in the country had taken the right decision at the right time. The right decisions being:

  1. Issuing a Torrential Rain Warning, early in the morning… so schools could close.
  2. or The Ministry of Education liaising with the Meteorological station and closing the schools anyway, event in the advent of no warning.

Lives were lost, because of a “faux pas” according to the President of Mauritius, a “faux pas” which in my opinion should not be repeated. The rains gave rise to lots of speculation, to the self-realization that even though Mauritius is said to be progressing towards a healthy economy, we have still loads of room for change…

Well, i followed the news these past few days… read the newspapers.. listened to the radio.. and came to the following conclusion:

that Mauritius has got the necessary Human Resources (geologists, hydrologists and more…) to bring about a stable climate monitoring system on the island, but dunno why the government does not enlist their services… at least he could listen to their ideas… instead of relying upon foreigners, who are in the first place not living on the island and do not have a real idea of l’étendue du problème (But am sure they can help anyways…). Fortunately, i have noticed that the current government (imho) reacts well to misfortunes… once a problem crops up, they work towards prevention of a repetition.. I hope same happens here.. and that they do not sleep on the job.

As for my tests, they were test-like… ;) The results are awaited… I won’t complain koz this is just the start.. exams remain (at the end of this month)… and on top of it, projects are to be submitted in two weeks… May God help me! (and all others…).

Hey wat about my project?? U ppl know abt it??

Well, it consist of designing a programming language to be used to teach programming to beginners.. very challenging and very interesting… and hard… as is everything else… bt dear, that’s life ek nu p manz r li… i just hope my project partner and I manage to bring about a small change in this big world…. ;)

Anyways, today is simply respite for a grueling month ahead….

And to end, phdcomics.com and i am sure this gonna cheer up loads…

poor lecturers...

So.. gud luck to our lecturers…

N this is bye to you ppl.. Take care :)

My Dad

Dear blog,

Therz a mail which has been going around. hre it is (mo p remarker mo p refer to lots of mails c temps si… mais bon…):

At age 8, your dad buys you an ice cream. You thanked him by dripping it all over your lap.

When you were 9 years old, he paid for piano lessons. You thanked him by never even bothering to practice.

When you were 10 years old he drove you all day, from soccer to football to one birthday party after another. You thanked him by jumping out of the car and never looking back.

When you were 11 years old, he took you and your friends to the movies. You thanked him by asking to sit in a different row.

When you were 12 years old, he warned you not to watch certain TV shows. You thanked him by waiting until he left the house.

When you were 13, he suggested a haircut that was becoming. You thanked him by telling him he had no taste.

When you were 14, he paid for a month away at summer camp. You thanked him by forgetting to write a single letter.

When you were 15, he came home from work, looking for a hug. You thanked him by having your bedroom door locked.

When you were 16, he taught you how to drive his car. You thanked him by taking it every chance you could.

When you were 17, he was expecting an important call. You thanked him by being on the phone all night.

When you were 18, he cried at your high school graduation. You thanked him by staying out partying until dawn.

When you were 19, he paid for your college tuition, drove you to campus carried your bags. You thanked him by saying good-bye outside the dorm so you wouldn’t be embarrassed in front of your friends.

When you were 25, he helped to pay for your wedding, and he told you how deep he loved you. You thanked him by moving halfway across the country.

When you were 50, he fell ill and needed you to take care of him . u thanked him by reading about the burden parents become to their children.

And then, one day, he quietly died. And everything you never did came crashing down like thunder on YOUR HEART. If you love your dad, send this to all of ur frnds If you don’t… then shame on u

Dads… We owe the world to our dads… ( n mothers no less bt this post is about Dads….) He is the one to first come running to your rescue when u fell, grazing ur hands and knees.

He is the one to buy you ur first mobile n ask you to show him how to use it before he buys his own.

He is the one to come ask if you’ll go out so he can plan an outing.

He is the one to buy you books, books you dont intend to read… but start it anyways and end up getting hooked to them.

He is the one to bail you out whenever you are in a ditch.

He is the one to start to teach you to drive (though he spends most of his time yelling at the top of his lungs in case you scratch his car..) and ends up sending you – away frm his precious car – for driving lessons.

Mine has always been there for me… wen i needed him the most and even wen i didnt. He always stood by me and my decisions.

This post is a tribute to my dad. I don’t have the necessary words to thank you enough. Just wanted to let u no that I love you and that am so so sooooo glad you happend to be MY dad.

Luv you.

Kevi
